20 May - 6 July 2007       After arriving on the Vineyard, Homer chose a couple of ponds (Priesters and Crockers--scroll down for details) at the base of  the Island's northwestern ridge of hills (moraine from the last glaciation) as his Island Headquarters. From there he has made forays out, mostly towards the northern portion of the Island.       The locations here are all the two most accurate "location classes" from the satellite data. The points north and east of the main cluster are not endpoints of Homer's fishing trips, but rather just the accurate fixes we picked up as he headed out to fish, or returned from a fishing trip.

Homer's base camp on Martha's Vineyard is the middle of these three ponds (Crocker). These are quite popular among the Island's Ospreys. When we went looking for Homer in July, we saw two other birds, neither with a transmitter. Luke, one of the new birds tagged this year, has spent some time fishing here as well.
