Belle - The third migration, 2013-2014

This is the track for Belle's third migration to Brazil, down in 2013 and his return in 2014.

 

Move the gray rectangular slider at the bottom of the interactive map to animate Belle's movements.

Details:

Belle began his third migration on 17 September. (At this point we should have picked up on Belle being a male and not a female. Females typically begin migrating in mid-August, while males leave in September.) 30 days later he was back on the Madeira, arriving on the 16th of October.

After a boring (that's the way we like 'em) winter, he headed home on 14 March, and 29 days later, on 11 April, he was back home.
